1st Ever Blog And Redskins Preview

Hello everybody, I am and have been a loyal Cowboys fan for many years.  I have been a fan even in the rough times.  Today I will be starting my blog evaluating the Cowboys and their current situation.  Well, I'll just get right into it.

So, the Cowboys are now 6-3 coming off a tough loss to the Packers.  This week they have the Redskins and will look to get another winning streak going.  The Cowboys need to win the next two games to go into the much anticipated December schedule.  If the Cowboys can beat the Redskins and Raiders, they can go into December with a very impressive 8-3 record.

Here are the keys to victory:

No Turnovers

The Cowboys last game did not do too well in this category last week against the Packers, with fumbles from Roy Williams and Tony Romo to go along with a INT in the redzone (all caused by Charles Woodson).  The Cowboys will have to do a better job in the turnover battle this week.

Run The Ball

The Cowboys need to run the ball better than they have in recent weeks.  We have three great backs in Barber, Jones, and Choice.  These backs seem to be all back to full speed and healthy.  If the Cowboys can run the ball, it will open the playaction passing game and also force the safeties to focus on the run and stop double covering Miles Austin.

Protect Tony Romo

Last week against the Packers the offensive line gave up 5 sacks and Romo was on the ground the whole game.  In order to win the offensive line needs to show up.  If they can't contain the pass rush, Romo won't have any time to look down field and get the ball to the playmakers.  Also, the Cowboys don't want another situation like last year where Tony Romo was injured.

Get The Lead Early and Keep It

The Cowboys cannot come into this game thinking it will be an easy win.  Just because the Redskins are 3-6 does not mean this game will be easy.  First of all, they're just coming off a nice upset victory over the Denver Broncos.  Second, this is a rivalry game.  I know it's kind of a cliche to say throw out the records, but for the Cowboys vs. Redskins rivalry, this cannot be so true.

Matchup to Watch

RT Doug Free vs. OLB Brian Orakpo.  Free will be starting his first career game filling in for injured Marc Colombo.  He will be going to face a very good rookie in Orakpo who has done very well lately.  He needs to keep Orakpo contained in order to give Romo time to throw.

Prediction

I think the Cowboys will go into the game focused and take this game early on.  The running game will click again and Miles Austin will break out for a 100 yd. performance.  The score will be DAL 34 WAS 17
